Launching & hosting the Imperial MBA Women podcast

Imperial MBA Women's Podcast - Samantha Bonnar

I launched the Imperial MBA Women podcast at the end of 2020 with the growing Imperial MBA Women’s network with the objective to amplify women's voices in business, and leverage the talent pool of Imperial students, alumni and faculty to do that. Each episode features a different Imperial MBA Women group member discussing a topic they feel passionate about, whilst also giving the group an additional opportunity to network and create bonds.

Whilst the main focus was on business led topics, we focused on all the voices being female, and therefore giving a different perspective to common issues and current themes that were being experienced by all students at the Business School.

Below is a selection of my favourite episodes from the series. Hosted on the Imperial College Business school channel, all podcasts can be found here.

Episode 2 - How has Covid-19 reshaped leadership?

In this episode I hosted guests Leila Guerra, Vice Dean of Imperial College Business School, and Celia Moore, Professor of Organisational Behaviour. Addressing the restrictions of reading a room through Zoom, why people respond differently to working across digital platforms and the growing blur between home and work life, this episode discusses the silver linings of managing in crisis and how going through this experience together has fast-tracked improvements that will continue on beyond the pandemic.

Episode 5 - The importance of strategic networks

Guests Victoria Fritz, BBC presenter and journalist, and Kimberly Arms, freelance Producer & Director, previously the Head of Video at American Vogue, join me to discuss the importance of building strategic networks in this lively and anecdote filled episode discussing the best learnings and making the most of opportunities from the fast-moving world of media.

Episode 7 - The Future of AI in Finance

Three esteemed guests join me to discuss the future of AI in Finance. Louise Smith is the Chief Digital Officer at Lloyd's and Board Member and Chair of the Scottish Financial Enterprise FinTech Executive Group, Rachel Kirkham, the Director of AI Solutions for MindBridge AI and a member of the AI Public-Private Forum, and Cathy Mulligan, Lecturer at Imperial College Centre for Cryptocurrency Research and Engineering. The discussion covers trust, ethics and barriers to rate of adoption, all within the context of revolutionising industries like Financial Services.
